Steven Gifford

Managing Clear Ridge since November 2008, Steve brings lots of prior experience with him. From owning his own Fish and Chip shop to helping grow and produce some superior wine there isn’t a lot Steve hasn’t tried! Born & bred in Blenheim, several hours north east of Hanmer Springs, then moving on to London and Sydney for many years as a Chef. Nearly 19 years cooking experience and accompanying several cafes to win Gold awards has definitely helped vamp up Clear Ridges in room menus, now boasting everything from full cooked English breakfasts through to substantially sized platters all delivered to your room!

Sir Spoggles
The resident cat. fluffy and friendly, and keeps a watchful eye on us here at Clear Ridge. Demanding Prawns & Camembert Cheese on a Monday, Salmon on a Wednesday and Venison Mince (cooked - no spices) on a Friday, Sir Spoggles lives a life of luxury here at Clear Ridge. Often found in the tussocks out front, basking in the sun or cuddled up in the office when it’s snowing, Hanmer winters sure make him grow a thick fluffy coat!

June & Susie
The two mares in our life, costing us thousands each year in carrots! What were once rather useless race horses are now useful for riding through the town from time to time. They both live in a paddock adjacent to the main road into Hanmer.
